ABOUT THE OWNER

Paulina Polek is the owner of Thrive Therapies IL Inc. She is a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), who provides speech-language therapy in English and Polish. Paulina Polek received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Iowa, and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Truman State University. Throughout her career, Paulina Polek has worked in various settings including hospitals, schools, outpatient clinics, Early Intervention, and home health. She has worked with children and adults with various communication disorders and backgrounds. Paulina specializes in working with young children birth-to-three years, and is an Early Intervention credentialed provider and evaluator. Paulina Polek has completed trainings/workshops in Talk Tools (oral placement therapy for articulation and feeding), DIR Floortime, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech in Early Intervention. She continues to pursue continuing education opportunities in order to provide quality, up-to-date services. In her spare time, Paulina enjoys spending time with her two cats, painting, and exploring the city of Chicago.

“Couldn’t be happier…

Paulina Polek first began working with my son, JP when he was 2 years old for speech delay. Paulina had each session carefully prepared with a variety of fun, age appropriate learning activities. She kept notes after every session, gave a summary and provided ideas to work on at home. At the same time, she was so kind and patient with my son. He would eagerly wait by the window for her arrival. JP first made progress using the hand gestures Paulina taught him. From there he began using words and his speech took off. Without Paulina there to gently challenge and provide him with the tools to get started, he would have never made the amount of progress that he did.

Here’s the best part…around his 3rd birthday, I took JP to our highly ranked school district to be screened for services. To my astonishment, the screening consisted of ALL the activities that I had seen Paulina working on with my son. Needless to say, he did not qualify for services. I am so grateful to Paulina for her professionalism, along with the kindness and nurturing she gave my son.”
